ACE BALL 2020

E-J Electric is among the many firms supporting in Coronavirus relief efforts. From the very start, they dedicated their services to support health care institutes. E-J Electric was involved in supporting the creation of the field hospital for New York-Presbyterian Hospital/ Columbia University Irving Medical Center‘s COVID-19 patients.  More recently E-J Electric has provided meals to health care workers at the Hospital for Special Surgery. During these tough times, Con Edison has been working diligently to support in covid-19 relief efforts in various ways.  From personal protective equipment, to direct support to community-based organizations, Con Edison’s support has reached New Yorkers in the five boroughs and Westchester County.  Their local machine shop in the Bronx has supported in manufacturing over 40,000 face shields for health care workers. In addition to this, Con Edison has also donated nearly 100,000 N95 masks. They continue to support health care facilities. Perkins Eastman has been working closely with local partners and healthcare institutes, providing their 3D printers to create Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This includes face masks, face shields, and more.    Perkins Eastman’s Michael Kane shared more on their efforts with 3D printers and PPE, “various grass-roots efforts to 3D print face masks and other 3D printable components sprang up around the firm…” What started out as individual efforts soon grew bigger as the firm moved forward with arrangements with Blue Edge, the company that provides Perkins Eastman with their 3D printers. Blue Ridge had coordinated efforts to dedicate their printers…

ACE GNY FIRMS RESPOND to COVID-19: Lilker Associates 

Lilker Associates has been involved in several projects recently to support healthcare facilities in their fight against Coronavirus.    At New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, they have supported in converting 21,800 square feet of psychiatric floor to build sixty new ICU/Critical Care Beds located at the 6th floor of the Carrington Building. Lilker Associates worked to provide new medical gases, temporary exhaust fans, makeup air, normal power and temporary three branches of emergency power distribution circuitry. Mentors Responding to COVID-19: Roxana Kariyannis, AECOM

Roxana Escobar Kariyannis is a veteran ACE GNY mentor and Team Leader. An Architecture Practice Resource Manager / Project Manager at AECOM, Roxana has been part of the firm’s efforts to support healthcare facilities as they fight Coronavirus. For the past several weeks, Roxana has been working countless hours towards the build of an alternate health facility in Westbury NY (Long Island). Previously a Long Island College, it will now be a field hospital that will house 1,020 beds for various patients and help alleviate the burden on the hospital system.   This project is not only a professional achievement, but also but also has personal significance. Roxana’s work directly…
